Ink on Found Paper, 60 cm x 45 cm
This project was a conceptual performance art piece in the form of a drawing as a way to further explore my delight in documenting trash as art and storytelling. It is based on a photograph that my mother took in the late 2000s on our route to school in the morning. We passed this home every single school day and we were all equally fascinated by the way the man who lived there has created a structural masterpiece. I had recently found this photograph again and began to think about the art of repurposing found materials to create something structured and what happens to the art we create when it must travel everywhere with you. So I found this piece of large printer paper that someone had thrown out at the FedEx printing center after it jammed in the printer and wherever I went, I brought this piece with me to work on it. From start to finish, it traveled with me rolled up in my bag and I just let whatever was going to happen to it, happen.
